What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Therapy is an effective and scientifically proven path to trauma healing through the tracking of sensation, completion of thwarted defensive, self-protective and/or orienting responses, and the integration of stuck emotion, meaning and images.
This body-based therapy strengthens nervous system regulation and the integration of implicit body memories that contribute to chronic stress, muscular tension and numbness, a range of inflammatory diseases, gut, endocrine and immune disorders, as well as emotional disconnection or flooding, etc. It helps to encourage greater safety within the body, and people to fully embody their lives.

NDE's and Out of Body Experiences
Integrate altered states, dissociation and related traumatic events through the body and out of polarity.
How Somatics can help with Trauma
Traumatic events and ongoing stressful experiences can leave parts of us stuck in Fight, Flight, Fawn or Freeze mode —unable to fully process the events on deeper levels.
This can lead to repeated disassociation, shutting-down (voluntarily and involuntarily), hypervigilance and/or avoidance of any situations or sensations that may retrigger the experience of the trauma. Somatic Experiencing™ is especially helpful to regain a sense of safety in our bodies and feeling of empowerment in our lives.
It is commonly used to help survivors and witnesses of: motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), pre- and peri-natal trauma, medical or surgical procedures, inescapable attack, sexual abuse, rape, falls, choking, near drowning and various developmental traumas.
How Somatic Experiencing™ works:
Somatic Experiencing™ developed by Peter Levine PhD in the late 1970s, helps to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses, so that related energy can be discharged and integrated back into the nervous system.
Jaya has practiced this modality since 2018 and found it to be incredibly instrumental in resolving fixated physiological states resulting from acute, developmental and complex trauma.
